The day before France's locks came down on 17 March 2020, I took a walk around Paris. I was planning to do some street photography before stay-at-home measures could do away with that option. But while walking around the capital, I saw very few souls to capture. Bereft of life, the streets had become real-life de Chirico paintings, conveying a sense of solitude at once eerie and disquieting.

Below are some photos I took that day — the day before everything changed.
